More Control Over Past Leaves & Stronger Audit Visibility
Gain more control and audit visibility with past leave edits, forwarded HR notifications, and detailed canceled request tracking in Birdie.

We're shipping two highly requested improvements that give admins and managers more flexibility, and make it easier for HR teams to stay in the loop.
Manage Past Leave Requests
Admins can now create or delete leave requests in past dates.
This makes it easier to:
- Fix mistakes in previously submitted requests
- Add leave retroactively (for cases like sick leave or missed submissions)
- Keep leave balances accurate without workarounds
This gives organizations full control over who can modify historical data.
As always, permissions stay clean and predictable.
Forward Leave Notifications to Multiple Emails
You can now automatically forward leave requests and approval notifications to additional email addresses.
This is especially helpful for:
- HR departments that need proof of requests and approvals
- Shared inboxes (e.g. hr@, people@, etc.)
- Record-keeping and compliance purposes
You can configure this under:
Settings → General → Forward Leave Notifications
Simply enable the toggle and add one or more email addresses to receive copies of all leave activity.
Clear CANCELED Status with Full Details
Canceled leave requests now display a clear CANCELED status badge.
Hovering over the info icon reveals:
- Who canceled the request
- The exact date and time of cancellation
This adds an extra layer of transparency and auditability, especially useful when combined with forwarded notifications.
